Stupid Hosting Company

November 11th, 2004 at 09:12 pm

I’m a little pissed that Shyzer was down for virtually all of today. I e-mailed my hosting company to see what the problem was and never heard back from them. Oh well, it’s back up now so I can’t bitch.

But the real reason I’m posting this is to wish a huge Happy Birthday to my buddy Tucker! I hope your 22nd year here on this planet kicks some major ass. Now we just need to play a game of capture the flag before I leave =)

I’ve got work and baseball tomorrow, but I plan on posting about my orientation sometime tomorrow night. Until then folks.

There Is No Point To This Post

November 9th, 2004 at 01:16 pm

To everybody who complimented me on the post I made about the election, a big hearty “thanks” goes out to each and every one of you. Special thanks to Ally and Angela, who both had kind words and whose sites I hope each and every one of you check out from time to time.

Anyways, I remember last week I also thanked all the people who voted in the first round of The Best of Shyzer. I’ll be honest and say I expected more votes to be cast than actually were, but I wasn’t disappointed with the overall numbers. I thought that maybe having people try and choose from 15 different posts was a bit much, so for the last and final round, I’ve narrowed the field down to 5. I hope to pound out a rough post for that late tonight and upload it sometime tomorrow, so be sure to come back for that.

I’m also working on a post that will have something to do with the not-so-covert message I used for a closing in the last post. Anybody whose talked to me in person has quickly learned its one of the only things I can talk about and frankly, I can’t wait to write about it. I’m forcing myself to wait until Wednesday, however, because I will have many answers to many questions after that evening.

So what’s the point of this post? None that I can think of so far. I would write about this past weekend, but each and every hilarious scenario I went through was one of those “you had to be there” type things. Friday night I went and played in some huge game called The Great Race, which was kind of like a Survivor type game. While our team might not have won, I can confidently say that our team name (The Lactose Intolerant Spotted Geckos) and our team cheer (which basically was about us drinking milk and having it go “all the way out”) kicked all the other team’s asses. Saturday night brought with it a drunken Jackson Crossing show, which was off the hilarity charts. Of all the countless times I have seen them perform, I have never seen Mike (the lead singer) drunk while trying to sing. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. And Sunday I traveled back to Spartanburg for a family reunion, which again provided some hilarious situations. So all in all, a great weekend.

It’s time for me to go work now. Since this post sucked some major ass, I updated the cam picture over there. And check back tonight, I promise to have something a little more worth while to read posted. Until then.

Filler…

October 9th, 2004 at 07:11 pm

No, I haven’t died. Yes, I will be posting tonight. Yes, when I do so, this post will vanish. Just sticking my head in and letting everybody know that all is well and that I’m busy drinking and partying with friends. Nothing like some fun to make all your worries wash away.

I decided to leave this post open and just update straight into it and yet as I sit here and type, I realize this is extremely pointless. I have so much going on in my life right now and yet it feels like I have nothing to talk about. I actually took some pictures of what I spent most of the day working on, but for some reason, my digital camera won’t connect with my computer. Whoopee…another random task that I need to take care of. If I ever do get it fixed, I’ll upload the pictures and everybody can have a good laugh at my expense, because trust me, I spent way too much time manufacturing a piece of crap “bookshelf.”

I think I’ve found the reason why the posts here on Shyzer have seemed to dry up, though. I know I just said in the last paragraph that it feels like I have nothing to talk about, but that’s just it: it only feels like that. There most certainly is a wide variety of topics I could be talking about right now and in fact, the entire right hand side of the dry erase board hanging right next to me is full of potential Shyzer topics. So you might say to yourself, “then why have you suddenly started posting only once or twice a week?” Well, it’s because I’m hot.

That’s right. You see, Fellner and I have had trouble keeping our apartment cool while at the same time saving money. Our power bill for the first three weeks was exuberantly high, so we decided to try and save some cash and just cut the A/C off…permanently. Yes, it’s hot as balls in our apartment for most of the day, but it’s a CHEAP hot as balls apartment, which brings me to this new realization. I can’t think when I’m hot. I don’t like sitting in front of a computer trying to develop rational thoughts when my nuts are hanging down beside my ankles. I don’t like trying to stare at a computer screen and catch typos when the sweat is gushing over my brow. And I especially don’t like the sudden heat stroke I develop while I am in the middle of a post. So that, my friends, is why Shyzer has taken a fall recently. I’m too hot.

Now if Fall-weather could just hurry and get here =)

A Little Too Quiet

September 28th, 2004 at 04:26 pm

I know it’s been a little dead around here lately, so I figured I’d check in for a minute. I’ve actually been working on Shyzer quite a bit lately, but it’s been on a few things for Shyzer that I have yet to release. (And yes Fellner, I am becoming that guy!) Shyzer’s birthday is actually later this week, so I’ve been trying to think of something to do for that as well. Make sure you all come back later for the Birthday Post.

As far as the rest of my life goes, well somebody seems to have tossed a brick on the pedal and let it go about 120MPH. I learned more Latin words during this past weekend then I ever thought I would in my entire life (Peccaba hodie!). I’ve also been busy with work and trying to make sure I get accepted in the study abroad program and I’ve even found some time lately for a social life. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you use up 18 out of the 24 hours each day. And hell, I was even able to ID the Mystery Sender =)

Happy Birthday Jules!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIANNE!

Sorry I can’t be there to say it in person, but you know I’m thinking about ya. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and you better save a piece of cake for me =)

Weekend Recap

September 12th, 2004 at 03:43 pm

Friday night was quite enjoyable. How come I never knew Grilled Teriyaki was open until 3 AM on the weekends? Sorry to whoever used the shrimp sauce after I stuck my finger in it. Some might say I was a bit inebriated, but I beg to differ. I just wanted to see what it tasted like.

I, however, am all Swaggered out. I guess a Swagger Party will do that to ya.

Saturday was the official Recovery / College Football day. I still can’t believe we lost that game to Georgia and then at the same time, I can easily believe it. That’s all USC ever does to its fans. Tease the hell out of them and then crush their hopes and spirits right at the end with some inexplicable play. I also spent a good portion of yesterday working on a new section for Shyzer. The more I work on it, the more I realize that I’m doing it more for my benefit then anybody else’s, but that still hasn’t stopped me from spending far too much time on it.

I somehow have even more schoolwork due this week then I did last week. Last week was the week of essays. This week is the week of exams. Perhaps I’m learning from my past mistakes by studying for my Criminal Justice exam now instead of trying to do it when I get back from the Packers game Monday night =)

And speaking of the Packers game, tomorrow night I will be in Charlotte watching Favre and the Packers play in person. TOMORROW NIGHT! It still hasn’t sunk in and I’ve been looking forward to this for over three months now. Regardless of the outcome, expect a long post and a new section in the photo gallery sometime this week.

TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!!!!!

MONSTER ROCKET!!!!!

September 9th, 2004 at 04:32 pm

Uh guys….I think we might want to take that Monster Rocket back to Toys Reverse-R Us. Seems like it might kill us or something. Still, I think it’s one of the most kick ass toys we’ve ever bought.

Sorry for any confussion I might have caused some people with the last post I put up. I promise I’ll make it much more clear in the coming weeks when I have some time to sit down and write about it in length. Just know that it’s a good thing and I’m happy.

I have two essays, a few hundred pages of reading, three exams, and a reserach topic due within the next 5 days.

I also have a building-wide party to host, a USC football game to try to attend, and a trip to Charlotte to see Favre and the Packers play the Panthers within the next 5 days.

Can anybody guess why I don’t really care about all that schoolwork? =)

Ramblings

September 3rd, 2004 at 07:24 pm

I’m bored. How much longer until 9:00??

The current cam picture to the left is of my British History book. Booooo that damned book.

I’ll be in Spartanburg for a few days this weekend. If anybody else will be as well, give me a call.

I’ll be putting up a poll here on Shyzer asking for some reader input. Please take the time and answer the questions truthfully for me since I’m obviously not putting it up for my health or anything.

Well, that killed three minutes for me. I’m now three minutes closer to 9:00.

Not what you were expecting, but…

August 23rd, 2004 at 02:11 am

I know I said I was typing up a new post for tonight, but I got a tad sidetracked. I’ve got a Word doc full of future posts that stands at 2614 current words, so nobody can say I’m not making an attempt here. I just haven’t had the time lately to finish any of the three or four posts that are in that document. One of them is to be posted on Shyzer’s birthday (which is fast approaching) and another is to be posted in early November, but the other topics I need to just hurry up and slap an ending on them. Every time I sit down to write something, the perfectionist in me comes out and demands I make it perfect. I dance around the post for a few hours until the clock reads something similar to 2:45 AM and I finally remember that my entire readership consists of some high school sophomores and a few bored people at work. So why in the hell do I insist I spend so much time on each and every post? Beats me.

I could give you that pointless bullshit about how the first two days of classes went and how I hope I do good this semester and how I already hate one of my teachers. But where’s the fun in that? You can get that crap on any other site, so not here my friends. Instead, you are entitled to some random ramblings until I finally get that Olympic post tweaked and finished.

Lee and I talked last spring about how cool it would be if we could go see the Packers play in Charlotte this season. They are slated for the first Monday Night Football game on September 13th, but of course by the time I remembered this fact, the game was already sold out. Which brings to me this question. If I were to, say, hypothetically buy some tickets on E-Bay, would anybody be willing to go? Maybe this question is not so much hypothetical since I plan on buying them anyways and going regardless, but you get the point. I know Lee and Chong would be down for it. Anybody else?

Beach Volleyball is my newest favorite sport. Kerri Walsh is also my newest favorite athlete. And her partner’s name, which is Misty May, sounds so incredibly like a porn star name that I have trouble not giggling every time I hear it.

Speaking of classes, does anybody happen to know any Latin? I might be calling upon your services in the future.

My apartment is unbelievable. After three years of relative “tardage” as Tommy would call it, I finally have a place I love. It’s a badass loft, which encompasses the entire third floor of the building, and it’s literally two blocks from campus and 50 yards from all the bars and restaurants. Picture may be in store sometime in the future, but regardless, I’ll post a little more about it when I get some time.

And finally, I just want to say thank you to all my friends who have helped me out and been there for me during the past few weeks. Y’all have no idea how much I appreciate it and how thankful I am. You all know who you are and like I said, Thank You so much.

Oh Thank God

Sweet succulent high-speed internet. How I’ve missed thee.

The cable guy finally showed up today, which means I now have cable internet once again. You can expect my weekly posting pattern to now resume =)
