18 seconds of suckitude
June 19th, 2008 at 01:48 amI’ve been creating short videos lately. Today I made a stop motion video that took 30 minutes to “film” and another 20 to put it all together. Total run time? 18 seconds. Doh.
I’ve got two other posts I want to put up, but I’m waiting to get paid before I post one (thus cementing the validity of the post) and the other one is in a holding pattern because I need to get somebody’s okay before posting what I want to about them.
Oh, did I forget to mention that I’m finally designing a new theme for this place? One word sums it up best: black.
A few months ago, I sent off a short story I’d written to a few magazines and websites. Today I got a letter from one of the publications thanking me for canceling my subscription to them and asking what they could do to get me back.
I think it’s safe to say my story was never read by them.

Funny that you mention sending off stories and all. I took a magazine writing class about 3 or 4 years back and your grade had a minor basing on whether or not you could get published. To make a long story short, in a class of about 24, only 3 could get published by the end of the semester. The teacher wanted to impart on us how hard it was to get published as a whole, and the work behind that. I’ll have to blog it sometime, it was an itneresting experience, to say the least…
And Black, eh? Get the idea from me or something?

Man, it’s a bitch and a half. I think the worst part comes not in the rejection, but in the utter lack of acknowledgment of your existence, let alone your work.
I could swallow a stream of rejection letters coming through the mail. But to not even be contacted with a bland “thanks but no thanks” letter just plain sucks.
