Oh media, how I love your crazy ways
April 13th, 2007 at 10:22 pm in MediaLet me just get this straight. Don Imus is no longer on TV or the radio for making an insensitive comment.
Glen Beck and Nancy Grace, however, are still going strong despite the former’s repeated attack on Islam and calling a newly elected Islamic Congressman a terrorist and the latter having spent a year screaming that the three recently acquitted Duke lacrosse players should be castrated, hung, and never thought of again.
Just making sure I had my facts right here.

To be completely honest, I think he was fired because his major sponsors backed out on him. No money = no show. Had he just generated attention and higher ratings without sponsors dropping like flies… he’d still be on air.

I agree, it all had to do with his sponsorship…but at the same time, why are they pulling out on him but not all of the other insane, crazy talking heads? Is he really THAT MUCH worse then everybody else?
I doubt it…

As our coaches use to say, “Keep your eye on the ball” (the money ball). Imus will end up on Satellite Radio with his fellow shock jock, Howard Stern. Big money for all, bonuses all around.

He’s definitely not worse than some of the other media folks out there… probably just an easier target.

I liked Imus. Not that I agreed with him all the time but his show gave me a chuckle every now and then. I like what my boyfriend said about it, Imus is an old man that was probably trying to sound hip. I listen to Opie & Anthony in the morning anyway. Now they’re slightly more offensive, like the time when they were discussing a deaf person karaoke contest.
