Work is okay

Well, I no longer “hate” work so much. I still don’t really like it, but I don’t dread going. I need more money in tips though. Look, I don’t mind bad tippers, but I DO mind NO tippers. Cheap ass people. They better watch out or I might do this. I’ll be working alone behind the counter tomorrow for the first time, so we’ll see how that turns out. Tine (the girl who’s been training me) has a day off, so I’ve got nobody to turn to. Emma (this ungodly annoying old hag) is waitressing, so hopefully we will be busy so I don’t have to listen to her bitch and moan about how the salt shakers are too small or the pool looks too blue, or DHEC might surprise us…she just goes on and on. I think I might have accidentally gotten a few people fired today =) Oh well, they weren’t doing their jobs. It also turns out that Heather (the restraunt manager) might ask me to start working in the nights, because me and Tina are the only people who can work the cash register. Now, I understand that it’s hard to learn the register. It’s easily 20 years old and doing some “simple” transactions take literally about 10 or 15 steps. But dear god, some of these people have been working there for a year and they still can’t understand it. I think they’re just trying to get out of cashiering =)

One thing I’ve noticed while working there is that they have the most fucked up chain of command possible. In MOST places, you have maybe 3, 4, or 5 levels. The head guy is on the top, and then gradually as you go down, there are more and more people on each level until you get to the bottom, where 80% of the people are. But not here. Everybody has their own level…and I mean EVERYBODY! It all goes according to job title and then seniority and it’s pretty damn confussing. I technically will be MOD tomorrow since Tina won’t be there and Emma (who has been there for a year and a half) is already below me….this place is damn weird.

Wow…I just totally broke my vow never to talk about work. Eh, oh well. I’m off to find some dinner. Peace.

I think its a server thing because looking over my blog archives, all I seem to do is bitch about work. From what I hear, South Carolinians are brutal tippers. 15% is great down there. Up here, on the other hand, it is an insult to get a 15% tip. I also prefer the ZERO tip to the 1-15% tip. If someone leaves me a quarter I want to shove it up their asses. See, look, here I go. I’m done. :)

I usually tip about 20%…. but I was brought up to always tip 15%. Maybe it’s a southern thing?? Either way, I didn’t know about that… shows how much I travel, right? :) I don’t think I’ve ever had to leave a zero tip, the server would have to be horrid for that….
I also tip about 20% to hairdressers and such…. but I’ve noticed a lot of people don’t do that either.
