Not goodbye, just see ya later…

June 20th, 2003 at 12:00 am

As promised, I posted the random song that fate brought me.

First off, what I’m doing has nothing to do with making some dramatic exit from the Net only to return a few months later with a new site and looking to get more hits like a lot of people on here do. I am in the group of people who are closing their sites just because they need some time away from their normal lives – some time to regroup, get a new plan, and go kick the world’s ass with it. My life has turned to shit this past month and things just aren’t working anymore. The path I am on is obviously not the right one and like I said, it’s time to re-evaluate, do a little “soul searching”, and gear up for what life decides to throw at me next. I’ve realized plenty about a lot of the people aroudn me and even more about myself…but now it’s time to work a little more on that and try to focus on only myself.

I honestly don’t know how long I’ll be away but trust me, I’ll be back. I think Doc said it best with: “And, really, how the hell could I give up blogging? There’s nothing quite like having a responsibility to a large, nameless, faceless crowd—a responsibility that neither lines my pockets or my bedsheets but requires additional bleary-eyed time in front of the computer. Hoo-fucking-rah.”

I’ll be leaving all the sub-pages up. I updated a few more pages this morning, so that is all the updating I’ll be doing for a while. Check out the Music page to see the songs that have a deep personal meaning to me. I might type up a page tomorrow explaining what each of my favorite songs mean to me and what make them special. I guess that depends if anybody would even care if I did that or has downloaded the songs =) I do know that before I come back, I’ll have finished everything that I promsied I would (i.e., my 50+ things about me, my video games section, my mariners poem, etc…) So when I do come back, there will be plenty of things to read and some new stuff as well =)

If anybody needs to contact me, just get my cell number from below. That and my e-mail are probably the only ways of contact I’ll leave open since I use my cell phone when looking for jobs =) So, if you need me, give me a call and leave me a message since my phone doesn’t really like to ring when people call and I’ll call you back…I promise =)

Until my next post, everybody take care of yourselves and until next time….

Goob

Oh yeah, and GO MARINERS!!!!

Gotta keep smiling….gotta keep laughing….I just have to…

Things like [outdated link] help, even if only for a short period of time.

Jaded

June 18th, 2003 at 12:00 am

EHFAR….just trust me on that one ;) I’ll explain later.

Out of 300 songs, I decided to follow my moto, shuffle my songs to where it would pick a random one, and let fate decide my future. I clicked the first song, fast forward to the end, and waited for the random song. And damn, did it ever decide for me. I’ll post the song it picked later on and let you all figure it out for yourselves.

WHIFF! That’s strike three folks. God I love baseball.

Last night my boys beat the defending world champions Anaheim Angels behind a solid outing from Ichiro, who hit two homers, and Boone, who hit a grand slam! Seriously, does it get ANY better then that? Well wait, ask me that again in late October and see what my answer is then.

I have the next three days off from work, so I am going to sit back and relax! I actually took a nap today when I got home from work, so I’ll probably be up all night. I know Tommy, Clay, and I are going to play a few games of StarCraft together tonight, but other then that, I’ll just be on-line talking to people. It feels weird not planning on going to bed at 9:30 =) I went and paid a few debts I owed today with my flea market / tip money. I paid the taxes on my truck and then got two money orders for a few hundred bucks that I owe people and stuck those in the mail. Now the only money I owe is on my credit card, which I can easily take care of….ah, to be in the green again =)

Somebody give me this phone number please. Imagine all the fun you could have with it. That’s my newest life goal. Prank phone call a world leader.

It’s funny how one person can be so willing to help another, no matter what they ask of you. Yet when they ask for a small favor in return, it’s shot down and denied. I’ve had this happen to me by like 5 people this week and it’s very damn annoying. But I really don’t even care anymore. I wish I could say I’ve become jaded, but that’s not even close to the truth. I just am sick and tired of playing these little games. I’ve got other things I can spend my time doing and other people I can spend my time with.

And thanks again old friend….I needed that. =)

My Matrix Predictions

June 17th, 2003 at 12:00 am

After seeing The Matrix 2, The Animatrix, and beating Enter The Matrix, I just had to talk about a few things. But first, be warned. *POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!* Now, anybody that’s read my site, knows that I’ve talked about Matrix 2 and Enter The Matris already, so well jump straight the the first thing I haven’t already talked about, The Animatrix. It’s pretty much 9 short animated segments that deal with the whole Matrix storyline. Two of them show how the machines and humans got into this whole mess, one of them totally explains why that little kid keeps following Neo around Zion, and the rest address various other things. However, the last episode, which is called Matriculated, was by far the strangest and, once you disect it, the best – for in my opinion, it shows what will happen in the 3rd movie, The Matrix Revolutions. Ok, here is where I am coming from. In Matriculated, a small group of humans, who are in the actual real world, are capturing machines and “freeing” them. For once you actually think about it, the machines are also controled by a central mind, and therefore, have just as little free will as the humans have. Once the humans “free” the minds of the captured machines, they simply let them do as they please. Most of the time, the machines decide to show their thanks by sticking with the humans and helping them.

But this isn’t what I am getting at. In the end of Matriculated, a group of machines hunt down and attack the humans. Seeing the humans under attack, the freed machines attempt to help them by fighting along side them. And then it just clicked in my head. We already know that Agent Smith is the real bad guy. We’ve seen he is able to kick any Human and any Agent’s ass at will. Which leads back to the age old saying “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” The only way the humans and machines will be able to beat Smith will be to join sides. Remember the scene in The Matrix Reloaded where the old guy and Neo are talking? And the old guy is going on and on about the humans needing the machines and the machines needing the humans? Come on, you know you agree with me now =) So that’s my prediction. That’s what I think the ultimate story of The Matrix Revolutions will be. It just makes too much sense, which is why of course it could easily be wrong. We’ll find out how far off I was in November =) *END SPOILER ALERT!*

So, in other news, I’m liking work a hell of a lot better. They have me working totally alone, which is great since I make the “cashier” pay while still getting all the tips. Plus, that means I have more things to do each day, which gives me 10 hour days every day! AND, since I already have too much overtime, they gave me Thursday, Friday, and Saturday off! THREE DAY WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!! The people in the kitchen and offices are pretty cool too. There are a few folks my age that I talk to whenever there is a dead period and the old ladies up front like me, so they gave me a key card that will let me in any room. So yeah, I love the job.

On the flip side though, my family is moving soon. They are supposed to be out of the house by the second week of July, meaning I have to find a place to stay. =) My mom said I could come up to Virginia with her….but that means leaving my job and hunting a new one up there…which would TOTALLY screw over my current job. They are planning on me working until August. My dad is living with friends, so basically, it’s time to start hunting for a place to stay for a month =)

And this past weekend, my boys played the hated Atlanta Braves for the first time ever and took the series 2-1! Ever since I’ve been a baseball fan, I’ve been waiting and waiting for the Braves and Mariners to finally play so that I could show for once and all that the M’s would prevail…which of course, they did! PLUS, I got to see a GREAT game on ESPN Sunday night, where we won 2-1. What a hell of a game…what a hell of a team =)

Even though I have a lot more things I could sit here and talk about, I’ll save them for tomorrow so that this post isn’t too long. I have work again in the morning, so I’m off to get a few things done and then head to bed. I’m updating a few pages on my site (finally) and changing a few things on my boards….very minor things, but things I’ve been meaning to do none-the-less. I’ll post again tomorrow night with more ramblings!

Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day, old man =)

Block IP

June 14th, 2003 at 12:00 am

I need a program that will allow me to pinpoint somebody’s IP address….I want to block them from reading my site. Anybody have any ideas? I know my host will let me block any IPs, but I need someway to find them out. If anybody has any ideas, please leave me a comment =)

I have half of a post typed up, but I’ll wait until tomorrow after I get home from work to finish it. Peace.

Oh, and go watch the Animatrix. Un-fucking-believable.

Blender…Summer of George

June 14th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Note to anybody who wants to make a homemade milkshake….DO NOT put chocolate chips in the blender. And when the blender starts to smoke, it’s usually a sign that it needs a rest =)

There are some things I promised myself I would start and stop doing this summer. Some I have stuck with…many I have not. But tonight I finally overcame a few of them and it honestly feels great. I just had to force myself to start doing it and so far, it seems to be working well. It’s all a matter or tricking yourself into believing certain things =) I know these are things that can only help me in the longrun and frankly, I need to focus on myself for a while.

My boss called me tonight around 9 and asked me to come in to work. I asked her what she wanted me to do and she said bartend and I just started laughing. Then I told her I wasn’t 21, I don’t know how to make drinks, and I hate drunks. She then laughed and said “who cares, I need somebody to take their money!” I didn’t feel like going in though. I was already in just my boxers and didn’t want to dress back up and go back up there. She then asked me when I was working until since she realized that Emma was quiting and that I might be leaving within a month or two. She was under the impression that I would be driving home every weekend to work. I told her I could come back for a weekend or two each month possibly, but that I would have to see what my hours were once I finally get a job in Columbia. I swear, that place is in total disarray.

It looks like I’m going to the Flea Market tomorrow after all. I need the money and it’s worth a shot, so I loaded all my junk up and I’m heading over there tomorrow morning bright and early. Well, I am off to work on my site and wait for the Mariners game to finish =) GO MARINERS!!!!!!

Missle and Matrix Video Game

June 13th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Do you know what the coolest thing in the world is? It’s is EASILY the highlight of my day. I’m talking about when I get to open the safe to get the money out. See, in order to open them, you have to have two keys from different people and they have to be turned at the same time….just like a missle. So whenever I get the money, I always start talking in “army” talk and then get the old lady who is the accountant to do a T-minus 10 seconds count for me. Then as I turn both keys, I make this big explosion noise as if the missles were fired. So far, I’ve gotten Rudy (The head of the hotel), Heather (my manager), and Tina (my super) to do it with me. I’m telling you folks, nothing beats pretending you are launching a missle with the safe keys. Just talking about it makes me want to go do it.

Amazing! Mind blowing! Orgasmic? Ok, maybe not orgasmic, but it does carry on the “Matrix” storyline during and after the 2nd movie. I’m talking about the new video game called Enter The Matrix, which is one of the best games I have played in a long time. Now only is the game amazing (especially the fighting in “bullet time”) but throughout the game, it will cut to actually movie sceenes that were filmed just for the game. You find out how they address the Oracle plotline (since the actress who played her died in reallife), you see what happened to Niobi and Ghost at the end of the movie, and of course a few other things that I won’t ruin for you =) There are more philosophical questions thrown at you and there are some BAD ASS fighting scenes. Trust me folks, this is a game well worth your money.

Today I was in charge of the restaurant…after only working there a week. Plenty of things went wrong and I ended up a few bucks short, but hell, it could have gone worse. Emma (read last post) is actually quiting too! I started to scream out in joy when I heard that, but figured it might be a little unprofessional. I did make $3 in tips today!!! Ok fuck you if you think that is small….it’s a lot to me. I mean honestly, who the hell actually tips at a CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST!? None of you. Exactly.

I have tomorrow off and I was planning on going to the flea market, but it’s raining so I get to…….*drumroll*……..SLEEP IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Work is okay

June 12th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Well, I no longer “hate” work so much. I still don’t really like it, but I don’t dread going. I need more money in tips though. Look, I don’t mind bad tippers, but I DO mind NO tippers. Cheap ass people. They better watch out or I might do this. I’ll be working alone behind the counter tomorrow for the first time, so we’ll see how that turns out. Tine (the girl who’s been training me) has a day off, so I’ve got nobody to turn to. Emma (this ungodly annoying old hag) is waitressing, so hopefully we will be busy so I don’t have to listen to her bitch and moan about how the salt shakers are too small or the pool looks too blue, or DHEC might surprise us…she just goes on and on. I think I might have accidentally gotten a few people fired today =) Oh well, they weren’t doing their jobs. It also turns out that Heather (the restraunt manager) might ask me to start working in the nights, because me and Tina are the only people who can work the cash register. Now, I understand that it’s hard to learn the register. It’s easily 20 years old and doing some “simple” transactions take literally about 10 or 15 steps. But dear god, some of these people have been working there for a year and they still can’t understand it. I think they’re just trying to get out of cashiering =)

One thing I’ve noticed while working there is that they have the most fucked up chain of command possible. In MOST places, you have maybe 3, 4, or 5 levels. The head guy is on the top, and then gradually as you go down, there are more and more people on each level until you get to the bottom, where 80% of the people are. But not here. Everybody has their own level…and I mean EVERYBODY! It all goes according to job title and then seniority and it’s pretty damn confussing. I technically will be MOD tomorrow since Tina won’t be there and Emma (who has been there for a year and a half) is already below me….this place is damn weird.

Wow…I just totally broke my vow never to talk about work. Eh, oh well. I’m off to find some dinner. Peace.

Random shit

June 10th, 2003 at 12:00 am

My hands smell. It’s one of those permanent smells that no matter how many times you wash your hands, it won’t go away. So what do they smell like? Bleach. Whenever I clean out the coffee or tea gallons, I have to throw bleach into it and I always spill it everywhere – including my hands. Now I can’t get the damn smell out =) You know what else I realized? Bleach smells like horrible BO. I had never thought thtat before, but I guess it’s the cheap ass knockoff brand we have, because whenever I pour it, the foulest smelling odor you have ever come across fills the air around me. Needless to say, I try and avoid cleaning out those damn things.

I didn’t wake up until 11 this morning. I don’t think I’ve ever loved slwwping in as much as I did this morning. It was sad though. Last night, I couldn’t have stayed up past 1 to save my life. Damn work and it’s evil methods of changing my body habits.

Ok, somebody answer this for me. When you hire somebody to come fix your window, you kinda expect them to do it the day they come, right? Or is that just me? My mom broke one of our windows last Christmas and we finalyl got around to calling somebody to come fix it. They came yesterday and promptly removed the old glass. And then left. I walked into my room last night with bugs flying around everywhere since I had left my computer monitor and TV on. Quite annoying my friends. I had fun with it though. I’d see how many bugs I could capture and then put them in my brother’s room. They finally came and fixed it today though. So no more bugs.

Ok, I am off to work on a new page I’m gonna post tonight and then clean a little bit. I’ll post again tonight.
