Two awesome movies
March 3rd, 2003 at 12:00 am in GreyMatterWelcome to the next installment of Goob’s Blog! In this episode, we hear of Goob’s terrific weekend and even get a sneak preview of some of the movies he has recently seen! In another subplot, it is revealed that Goob is amazingly unprepared for his midterms. And finally, we find out what Goob’s Spring Break plans are!
Welcome back fellow blogger-readers…..that sounds weird, but I can’t think of another funny word. (At 3:30 AM, that word is funny. Trust me) So it’s Sunday night or Monday morning if you are one of those freaks that tells the date by “time.” I’m down here in Charleston with Jess and I thought I would just catch everybody up on what’s been going on the past few days. The items I had on E-Bay all sold except for one. I was damn happy about that since it brought in some much needed money. In fact, if any of my readers were among the 4 people who bought stuff, let me know please! Jessica’s boards are up and running and everybody needs to go sign up and start posting! It’s a great, small group of people so far and everybody on there is really cool =) I’m just happy I got the things up and running! It actually wasn’t as hard as I expected it to be.
I came down here Thursday night and Jessica and I watched Bowling for Columbine. She had shown it here at College of Charleston and she really wanted me to see it. I had remembered hearing about it over the summer and wanting to see it then, but I never got a chance to in the theaters and so we watched the first 3/4 of it and I loved it. I thought it was a well thought out documentary and was amazed by it. The main question it raises is are we a nation of gun nuts? (yes) and if so, why? (get back to me on that one). It was a great movie. One of those that makes you cry and laugh throughout the whole thing. If anybody is interested, I’ll go into a more detailed summary of it. But I really recommend checking it out. I doubt Blockbuster has it yet, but Kazaa Lite does ![]()
On my drive down here, I had heard a movie review for Donnie Darko. So Jess and I went and rented it and watched it Friday night I believe. The plot revolves around an adolescent boy who is either slightly crazy or seeing into the future. He starts seeing these visions of an evil, 6 foot bunny that tells him to do things. The entire movie is a mind trip and I personally put it in my top 3 favorite ever. The WHOLE movie is symbolism for parts of the plot. There isn’t a single scene that is there just to fill up space. I’ve watched it three times since then and I still am left pondering many aspects about it. I can’t wait to buy the DVD for it and watch another 100 times. And the music…dear god, it’s awesome.
I tried to study for my upcoming midterms. I failed miserably. I got a few hours of work done tonight, but Thursday is fast approaching and I know little to nothing about most of the material in some of my classes. My express Philosophy class is ending this week, so instead of a midterm, we have the final. If I do bad on that, there is no more time to fix it. Talk about a pain in the ass. My Religion class has a lot to study for and I actually have two midterms AFTER my Spring Break, which I thought was going to suck like nothing else, but it turns out now I have an extra week to study for them and instead of having all my test in this one week, it’s more broken up. Hell yeah.
So yeah, my Spring Break starts next week. My uncle lives out in California and he invited me to come snow mobiling with him up in the mountains, so I am flying out on my mom’s standby tickets this Friday morning and coming back Thursday morning. After that, I’ll either go to my hometown or Charleston, depending on where Jess is at the time. I’m pretty excited about going. I’ve never been snow mobiling before and I can’t wait to give it a try. I’ll be sure to let everybody know how it goes! But as you can tell, I won’t be posting during that 6 days. So I better have PLENTY of comments waiting for me when I get back. Don’t worry, I’ll remind you all later this week =) Well, until next time…
So, will Goob make it to San Franciso on stanby tickets and not get stranded in Chicago? Will he fall into a bottomless pit on the snowmobiles? Or even worse, will he fail all his midterms and be forced to spend *gasp* an extra semester at USC?! STAY TUNED TO FIND OUT!!!!

Not that this has to do with *anything* in your post, but did you read about USC building the ‘research university’? Guess what the first thing to go is…. parking lots. Don’t ya just love the logic??

Okay, I just got done watching Donnie Darko on digital cable, and what the HECK?
Okay, this bunny tells him the world will end on October 30th. When October 30th comes, the movie goes back to October 2nd, and he gets killed when a JET ENGINE falls in on his house. If he died on October 2nd, how did he live through October 30th?
What is up with that movie?
