My computer hates me.

January 30th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Well, I went and did a stupid thing. I thought it would be a great idea to reformat my harddrive, so I backed all my files up and wiped the damn thing clean. I just forgot one little fact…

….computers like to hate you.

My video card now is having all sorts of errors, my TV card can’t find any Free Range Memory (whatever that means), and my speakers have decided that instead of playing the Aerosmith song I clicked on, they would prefer to scream and hiss at me….wait a minute, maybe that is the Aerosmith song I clicked on. The funny thing is, everything worked fine on my computer before. I just had built up so much junk files and defrag wasn’t really working and I had little errors here and there with applications that I had loaded on over the year. But all of my main components worked just fine. Goes to show I need to stick to what I know best: Video games, Mariners, and Jess.

Anyways, I am busy trying to fix this stupid thing. I hope to have it done by tonight (yeah right) and then first thing tomorrow morning I am heading down to Charleston to be with Jess for the weekend! That, my friends, is something I have been looking forward to all week.

And don’t look now, but somebody is having a birthday soon. And I’ll give ya a hint. It’s me =)

State of the Union

January 23rd, 2003 at 12:00 am

Well the State of the Union Address is tonight and I for one could not be happier. I used to hate this thing though when I was a kid. It seemed like every channel covered it (this was before we got Nickelodeon and the 500 HBO channels) and I hated watching some old guy talk.

And up until last year, I still hated this thing. All they talked about was political double speak and while there were important issues to be discussed, they never really talked about those. But now…man, I just can’t wait. So you may be asking yourself “Gee Goob, why are you so excited? It’s just President Bush making a speech. Are you hoping he will talk about the upcoming personal war he has decided to wage with Iraq? Are you excited about the fact that he might address the economy? Or maybe he will talk about…”

Iraq? Economy? What the hell are you talking about? I’m going to be watching just for one thing. Preisdent Bush making a speech. That my friend is unintentional comedy at its greatest. Where else can you hear such things as “If you don’t stand for anything, you don’t stand for anything!” and “I think we agree the past is over.”

And come on, I know you all remember “There is an old saying in Tennessee. I know it’s in Texas, it’s probably in Tennessee. It says fool me once, shame on…..shame on you. Ya fool me, we can’t get fooled again!” I’m not making that one up folks. I have the video clip to prove it. So damn hilarious. It doesn’t get much better then that. Vegas should get in on this and let people wager how many words he will screw up. I’m putting $20 on 9.

And it’s not just Bush! It’s his surrounding characters too! Take for instance White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. When asked about the recent reports that no “smoking gun” had been found in Iraq, he responded with “The problem with a hidden gun is that you can’t see the smoke.” Ahhhh. Thanks for clearing that one up for us Ari.

Snow

January 23rd, 2003 at 12:00 am

There are few things that I love about South Carolina. For the most part, you can find me bitching and complaining about any number of things, from the Confederate flag still being flown on the state house grounds, to the amazing racism that still is bred from 100 years ago, to grits.

But one thing that I love about South Carolina did appear this morning. Snow. Ok, well maybe we don’t get snow as often as I would like. Once every three years usually. However, that turns out to be a good thing because if I can tell you one thing about the South, it is this. Southerners are scared shitless of snow. I’m not joking. If the weatherman predicts that there MIGHT BE a chance of flurries, there is a mad dash for the supermarket to grab all the bread and water. I can still picture the lines at Ingles where a good 50-70 people were buying the last of the bread and water and nothing even happened that night. It’s like they think they will be snowed in their house and unable to leave. Quite humerous.

But today I awoke to this glorious news. “The University of South Carolina Columbia Campus is closed today, Thursday, January 23, due to winter weather conditions.”

I looked outside and started to laugh my ass off. We got MAYBE half an inch. The roads were perfectly clear. But those good ole’ Southerners went ahead and closed just about everything. But I wasn’t complaining. Thursdays are when I have the most classes (4) and I have to spend about 7 hours in the classroom….not fun. But today, I just slept in and can go home early.

So if you ever want to see an entire state panic over nothing, please make a trip to South Carolina in the winter time. Wait, did I just tell people to actually travel to South Carolina on their free will? Scratch that, I’ll just take some video footage for ya. Nobody should ever have to come down here on their own.

I bitch too much

January 19th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Could there possibly be any more crap that I have to get done in the next week or two? From classes, to homework, to this site, to other obligations…it’s starting to become too much. And it seems like everything needs something else to be done first before I can do it. Like this site. I really need to reformat my harddrive before I start messing around with my files that I already backed up. Which means that I have to find my CDs to restore this thing. Which means that I have to unpack my room and then repack it…..all for something that shouldn’t take nearly that amount of time.

Do you know what this site has become? My personal place to come and bitch. That is all I do. Look at this. What the hell. I hate bitching. I never try to bitch. I always smack myself when I start to bitch. But what do I do here? Bitch my little whinny ass off.

Ok, enogh bitching. Good news #1. I’m in Charleston for the weekend spending some time with Jess. No reason whatsoever to bitch while I am down here. Good news #2. ….. ok, so there isn’t good news #2. lol. Ok, ok….my birth is less then a month away. That’s always fun. Birthdays are the best.

Ok, I am off to make a list of things to do and then go to bed. Hopefully by this time next week you will be looking at an employed, ahead in his classes, happy man who just put up a new redesigned website.

HAHAHAHA, yeah right.

No money

January 14th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Not really in the mood to post right now. In fact, I am still trying to get my schedule fixed. I have some of the worst classes ever, including a oh-so-lovely Women Studies class. Then I have a nice bank account, which is about -$300 with a nice little credit card bill. Thanks alot FASFA. Good for nothing piece of shit government. And I still have yet to buy my books, which is already hurting me in the homework department.

But I am just looking forward to Friday, when I will leave all my problems behind and go to Charleston for a few days. I’ll post more later on tonight / tomorrow when I am in a better mood.

Work for a week…

January 8th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Alarm goes off at 7. Snooze. Alarm goes off at 7:08. Snooze. Alarm goes off at 7:16. Snooze. Alarm goe…

You get the picture. Yes I am working again. But just for a week. So please excuse the lack of updates, posts, and excessive new page errors that you all have grown used to experiencing week in and week out. I got a job with the factory I worked at this past summer, yet for this week (I know, it’s only for a week…what the hell am I complaining for?) I am now working in the offices. It really isn’t that bad. In fact, I kinda like it now. I bring in my CD player and listen to it all day and just file papers and run errands. Not that bad for…..wait a minute…I have no clue how much I am making. Eh, it can’t be that bad. Even minimum wage at 40 hours a week comes out to something. And the people I work with are pretty cool too. Plenty of candy and food to eat and just nice people all around. Not like this past summer when I didn’t care for a few of my co-workers.

But I am 3/5 done now. All I have left is tomorrow and Friday and then it is off to attend a family matter and then back to school, where I will have plenty of time to finalyl build this site to what I want it to be….Look at me, I’m going to bed before midnight…..what is wrong with me?

Oh and 1 last thing. Please go check out Mindy. She is an amazing person and I’m sure you all have already been to her site many times, but she really has a great site and deserves some more viewers!

I hate the Falcons

January 5th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Those stupid, dumb shit, god damn, mothing fucking Falcons.

But give Green Bay some credit. They were playing without their #1 tackler, #1 sacker, #1 interceptor, #1 running back, and #1, #2, #3 recievers…..jesus christ.

Favre can’t do it all boys. This is the playoffs. You play through injuries. You play to win. I just can’t really speak right now.

Neopets will be the death of me

January 4th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Has anybody else been doing something, something they do all the time, and then just stopped and realized…”Wow, I’m a nerd.”

As many of you already know, I am addicted to Neopets <-- *Points to link on the left. Use it to get the to mainpage and sign up, giving me a referal!* Jessica is also addicted to Neopets. Give us two computers in the same room and all night to do whatever we want and we will play nothing but Neopets together…ok, maybe we will do a few others things together, but that is for a different conversation =)

But seriously, it was 5AM last night and we were playing Neopets without even blinking at the time. Hello 6AM. Hello 7AM. Hello sun. Hello 9AM.

Hello AA meetings.

No really, I’m heading to one the instant I find one. Oh shit, now I just missed a great deal on a . Until next time.

New Year

January 2nd, 2003 at 12:00 am

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The last few days have been pretty eventful for me, though not too much fun. Monday Jess and I went shopping for food and basically just chilled here at her apartment. Tuesday rolled around and we thought it might be a little fun to just hang out here with her neighbors and watch some fireworks and have a few drinks =) Now anybody that knows me knows that I 99.99999% of the time I won’t touch alcohol. The last time I did was over 3 years ago and that was basically the first time for me. But I thought it might be fun to drink a little when it was just me and her here, so we walked outside and that is when my week began to suck like hell.

Chloe was extremely afraid of the fireworks. Even when we were inside, she was growling and barking at them and just wouldn’t calm down. Well Jess and I thought she would be okay if we brought her out with us. The guys next store were shooting off Roman Candles and when the first one went off, Chloe sprinted back inside with some other dogs. We made her come back outside and I shut the door and when the next batch of fireworks went off, she took off around the corner. Well she runs down the street and back all the time so we thought nothing of it since all the other dogs around went in the same direction. But after a few minutes, all the owners went looking for their dogs and in the end, Chloe and Charlie were missing. Charlie’s owners had seen them running further down the street, so we went looking for them and looked around for a good 30 minutes before returning home, only to find Charlie sitting there…without Chloe.

We went looking throughout the entire night for her, unable to find her. This all happened around 10:30 PM and we were out looking until around 4 AM. There isn’t really that much around this apartment complex. It is relatively new and the only things near here are another apartment complex, and a main road. We’ve driven down all the roads a good 50 times and thank god we haven’t seen her hit or anything. She was wearing her collar, which had her tag saying she had her rabies shot and her other tag has a 1-800 number on it to call if she is found. When we got her, we had a chip implanted in her to where if she was ever brought to an animal shelter, they could see her tag, scan the chip, and return her. We called the number and let them know that she was missing, so hopefully whoever has found her will realize that they are supposed to call the number on it. But the people around here aren’t quite the…oh what’s the phrase….brightest in the world.

We went to Kinkos and a friend of Jessica’s sister was working. He gave us 50 free color copies of the flier we made, which ended up being like a $49 value! He also just handed us a stapler and some staples and said to go find her, so he helped a ton. It was so much more than he had to do for us, but we were so thankful and it really did help a lot. We drove around and posted a good 30 of them on STOP signs and whatnot around her house.

We were driving back in the woods around her house and we kept stopping ever 1/2 mile or so to listen for barking and call her name. We heard tons of dogs barking, but we did stop once and this one barking caught both our attentions. We looked at each other and ran back to the car to see if we could find the source of it. We sped to Wal-Mart and bought some flashlights and by the time we got back, the barking had stopped. It really sounded like Chloe’s “I am fucking annoyed, so give me what I want” bark and tomorrow we are going to go back there during daylight and see if we can find her. Wish us luck. She really is like our baby to us. We treat her like a child and joke about “practicing” with her for when we have our own kids in a few years together.

So, other than that, nothing much else has been going on with me lately. I’ve been busy playing Neopets and posting on Mia’s message board while on the computer. I called my old employer today and asked about getting a job for next week. It paid $8 an hour and you get 40 hours a week, so $260 for a week’s worth of work really would help out sooooooooooooo much. I am currently about $50 in the red after payment for school this upcoming semester, so I really need some cash to hold me over until I can get a full time job down in Columbia. But really, most of my time has been well spent searching for Chloe with Jess.
