Christmas

Well, it has been a damn long time since I have posted anything. I’m actually impressed with myself for going this long without being around a computer and not having some sort of withdrawl attack or spasms of something. Damn…now that I think about it, I have done a ton of shit since I last posted. What’s that? You want to hear about it all? Well in that case…

Well I last posted on Sunday, so what did I do Monday? Drive to Atlanta! Jessica and I had tickets to the Hawks - Wizards game since Michael Jordan is playing in his most likely last year and Jessica has always wanted to see him play since she was a little kid =) We drove to Atlanta and got a hotel for the night and then the next day we woke up and walked around Atlanta for a few hours before heading over to the arena for the game! We were afraid that Jordan would take the night off, but he ended up kicking the Hawks’ ass and scored a season-high 30 points that night! So we were pretty damn happy that we didn’t drive to Atlanta just to see Jordan sit on the bench =)

So what are we at? Wednesday? Ahhh, well we then drove home for the day to get ready for the next few days because we were picking up our siblings and heading up to Tennessee to stay at one of their state parks for a few days! My younger brothers Tommy and Clay and Jessica’s younger brother Kyle came with us and by Thursday morning, we were on the road!

Now Maquest had us taking all these backroads to get there and said that it would take over 3 hours. But I swore that I had found a short cut after looking at the map! So I navigated our way for a good hour or two….but by the 4th hour….we were a tad lost =) I know I know, but damnit, I swore that the way we were going would have gotten us there just fine! We pulled over at this Burger King where the employes were a bit….how do you say it….hickish? I really was surprised they knew hoe to operate that complicated cash register and when we asked them for directions, it was easily one of the funniest Unintentional Comedy Scale moments of all time. They were trying so hard to be nice and helpful, but NOBODY agreed with each other and then they started fighting with each other on how to get there and then they were getting confused by the TWO stop lights along the way and which way was left or right….Seriously, this stuff couldn’t have been scripted any better…So by the 5th hour and 2 mountain tips later, we arrived at our destination! I made a quick note not to take that damn short cut on our way home.

SOOOOO, we unloaded the car and headed up to our cabin, which intentionally had no television or telephone. So no TV, no phone, no Internet. Just us and……well us basically. We were the only guests and the nearest town was a good 10 miles away. So we drive into “town” and realize that there is only one little general store that sells food. As we walk in, we are expecting to be ripped off by the food prices, but once we start looking at things, they were cheaper than anything I have ever seen before! Since the “town” is so little, everybody knows everybody and the people who ran the store weren’t in it to make a profit, they were in it to help out their friends and family. So we stocked up on food and headed back to the cabin. It was night all ready and storming outside, so we decided to go ahead and make dinner and play board games. As we were getting into a good game of Stratego, the power decided to flicker out….and then a few seconds later it pops back on.

Well this goes on for a few minutes. After doing this for the 20th time or so, people start getting scared, and after 3 hours later, I pack us all back up in the car, drive 45 minutes to the next city, and get us a hotel room =) What a way to “rough it!!”

So now we are at, Friday? Friday we hike up to the top of one of the nearby mountains and then back down. The scenery was awesome and Chloe (our puppy) loved it. She was sprinting ahead of us, then dashing back to us, then doing it all over again. We got pretty tired though. We stopped for many “picture breaks” throughout the day and after a few hours of hiking, we headed back to the cabin. I don’t know if anybody has played these games before, but if not, you really need to go check out Ultimate Stratego (You gotta get the Ultimate Version, not the Original version. There is a huge difference) and Catch Phrase. Those were the only games we had up there and they are easily the best two games ever. The same went for Saturday and those two days were easily the most relaxed days I have had in such a long time.

But for everything good, something bad must happen. And that came on Sunday when I woke up with the worst flu ever. I wanted to pass out and never wake up again, but I could never fall asleep and ended up just laying in bed all day. Jessica went and got me some medicine, which helped a hell of a lot, and she ended up making me feel much better =) I was extremelly thankful for everything she did! By Monday it was time for us to leave. We got home a little quicker then our drive up there (thank fucking god) and we loved it so much up there, we are going to try and get a huge group together and go for the summer. Monday night we were originally planning on driving back to Charleston, but my parents begged and begged us to stay for Christmas because they said they needed us there for X-mas morning. So we caved in and decided to stay there until Wednesday. We went shopping for my family that night and then on Tuesday, we hung around and waited for X-mas.

So come Christmas morning! We woke up at 6 AM to go over to Jessica’s house to spend the early morning with her family, which was fun =) They unexpectedly game me a gift card to Best Buy which was really, really nice! Now I can go buy some new games!! After that, we headed back to my house and had another Christmas morning! I got a few CD’s, some cologne, a new watch that is sweeeet looking, and a few other things. Then my family game me a CD player with a car kit. Now if you know anything about me, it is that my 1985 Ford Mustang is sitting in the back yard sorta…..broken =) So I was very puzzled. Then they gave me a small box and when I opened it, there were car keys inside. We all jumped up and I ran outside to the driveway where there was now a 1993 Ford Ranger sitting with a bright red bow on it!!!!!!!! AND IT WAS MARINER GREEN!!!!!

Words simply cannot express the feelings running through me at this time. I was jumping all over the place, hugging everybody, screaming, and doing everything else imaginable. I jumped inside it and looked around and fell in love. My dad jumped in and pointed down and said “So, do you know how to drive stick?” Well, let me take you back to a summer day when I was in 10th grade and my friend’s grandfather was trying to teach us how to drive a stick shift. That was about the extend of my knowledge. But after about an hour and 50 stalls later, I had the hang of it and was cruising around town =) What a Christmas!

Thursday was my brother’s birthday! We decided to stay for the day and hang around the house. Then Friday came around and last night we drove back to Charleston. And that brings us to today, in which I have spent a majority of my time awake typing this damn long post and helping Jessica configure her GreyMatter, which I have failed at so far. Don’t even ask about that thing. It just keeps screwing up. So there you have it. That is what I have been doing lately and now that I am back to my regular schedule, I can post every day =)

The Packers are on tomorrow and if they win, homefield advantage throughout the playoffs! GO PACK GO!!! Geez, I have so much more I want to type about, but I guess I will save that for the rest of this week and go ahead and end this ungodly long post. I hope everybody had a great Christmas! Leave me a nice comment!!
