Who would have guessed?
October 9th, 2002 at 12:00 amSo, here I am eating my daily sandwich, looking through ESPN when it finally hits me. The Minnesota Twins and Anaheim Angels are battling it out for the American League spot in the World Series. Think about that. Quick, name one player on the Angels. You can’t, can you? Name the manager of the Twins. Yep, didn’t think so. And it’s not just your everyday fan who doesn’t know these things, most “baseball fans” have no clue. And while I did pick the Twins to win their division and Anaheim to be the “Surprise Team” this year, I never imagined them in the ALCS. But damn, these two teams are a fucking blast to watch. They both know that their teams are full of players going through career years and that next year they won’t be as lucky, so they are playing as if their lives depended on it. It has been some years since I have seen such intensity and pure feeling being played out on the field and dear lord it is fun to watch.
And did anybody else notice that all 4 of the teams with homefield advantage lost? Guess it shows that homefield guarntees you two things. Jack and Shit.
